Las Vegas police say Oakland Raiders receiver Javon Walker's house was robbed the night he was beaten and left unconscious on the street. Walker, who reportedly suffered a concussion and facial injuries, had $3,000 in cash and about $100,000 in jewelry stolen early Monday morning.
Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson will have surgery to remove bone spurs in both ankles. The surgery is scheduled for today and he is expected to be fully healed by training camp.
Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter will not ask Congress to look into the New England Patriots Spygate scandal. He, however, still recommends an independent investigation into the incident and says he will look into public funding for team stadiums in the NFL and other sports leagues that current receive anti-trust exemptions.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn told ESPN he wants the team to release him if it continues to bar him from practicing until he signs a $500,000 injury waiver. Glenn missed the first 15 games of last season because of knee problems.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms did not attend the team's mandatory mini-camp yesterday. Simms, who was the team's starter until he ruptured his spleen in 2006, is seeking to be traded or released.
The Atlanta Falcons released safety Jimmy Williams. The Falcons traded up 10 spots in the second round of the 2006 draft to select Williams but only got 7 starts out of the underachieving player. He was demoted to third string after reportedly showing up to a voluntary mini-camp 20 pounds overweight.
The Falcons also signed cornerback Wilrey Fontenot. Fontenot was drafted in the 7th round of April's draft.
The Carolina Panthers claimed center Pat Ross off of waivers on Tuesday. Ross was waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday. To make room for Ross, the team waived offensive lineman Eric Tunney.
The San Francisco 49ers claimed defensive tackle LaJuan Ramsey off of waivers. Ramsey was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed rookies Jack Ikegwuonu, Joe Mays and King Dunlap to four year contracts on Tuesday. Ikegwuonu was a fourth round pick; Mays was a sixth round pick and Dunlap was drafted in the seventh round.
New York Jets president Jay Cross resigned his position on Tuesday after eight years with the team. He is accepting a position as president of Related Hudson Yards.
