Comments from Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox following the team's training camp practice.
On training camp: It was a good camp. It was short. It was sweet. Like always, there are always tougher times than others, but I think we worked through everything pretty well. I like this group so far. We'll have another test tomorrow night.
On if he accomplished what he wanted to at training camp: Yep. I think we've maintained relative health. You always have a couple of guys that you wish things didn't happen to. We'll leave some guys behind, but for the most part we made it through with nothing real severe.
On if any players stood out during training camp: Sometimes with those nicks and injuries it gives other people opportunities, guys like Jason Carter. Chad Upshaw, we brought him back, and he's done some good things. I like what I've seen. I like the way we went about our business. Now it's a matter of staying healthy.
On if rookie running back Jonathan Stewart will play against Philadelphia: There's that option. If we were doing the injury report it would be questionable.
On if linebacker Jon Beason will play against Philadelphia: He'll play.
On how long the starters will play against Philadelphia: They'll play more than one and no more than two (quarters).
On if quarterback Jake Delhomme will get all of the work with the first-team offense or will Matt Moore also get some work with the first unit: I think this week Jake will get most all of the one's.
On who will not travel to Philadelphia because on injuries: Everybody who did not practice yesterday (Tuesday) except for Hilee Taylor, because his was illness and he's O.K. Gary Barnidge (glute), Chris Gamble (hamstring), D.J. Hackett (toe), Chris Harris (groin), Ken Lucas (nose), Ryne Robinson (knee), Dante Rosario (hamstring), Ian Scott (knee), and Steve Smith (concussion). All of those guys who didn't practice we're leaving at home, because they are better served here getting healthy.
On who will be the first player in his car to leave training camp and get back on the road to Charlotte: It would be a long list. I know that (parking) lot was more crowded today than it has been all training camp. I think they got their cars closer for a quicker escape.
On if the Panthers will continue to hold training camp at Wofford College: First of all, that's not my decision. I like it as a training spot. I like the idea of camp. There are a lot of teams in the League that don't even go to camp. They stay at home. I like the idea of going away. I think guys are kind of forced to be with each other, and in my opinion that's a good thing. They take great care of us here from the chow staff to the dorm staff. The facilities are great; the fields are great. I've got no complaints.
